Nicolette Edwards
Ph.D., Anthropology
Nicolette is currently a Ph.D. candidate in anthropology. Her dissertation research consists of an ethnoarchaeological project of Central African foragers, which incorporates ethnographic data with isotopic and cortisol analysis of hair to study the impact of women’s productivity efforts on diet and nutritional stress among women, men and children. Nicolette is also interested in zooarchaeology, collaborative and indigenous archaeology and the ancient history of Central African foragers. She was awarded the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship in spring of 2020. Nicolette also received a Garry A. Weber Graduate Fellowship and an Institute of the Study of Earth and Man Research Grant to support a research trip to CAR in December 2019 and January 2020 to conduct archaeological excavation at the rock shelter site of Nangara-Komba alongside Dr. Karen Lupo. She will also participate in the Humanities Without Walls Career Diversity Workshop as a fellow in July 2023. Nicolette received her B.A. in anthropology from the University of Alaska Fairbanks in spring 2017 and her M.A. of anthropology from ÃÛÌÒ½´in spring of 2020.
