Laura Smith is a counsel in the Financial Restructuring Group at O’Melveny’s Dallas office. Laura concentrates her practice on commercial bankruptcy and regularly represents debtors, lenders, creditors, and trustees under chapter 11 and 7 of the Bankruptcy Code.

Laura’s practice also includes litigation and adversary proceedings. She has significant experience representing lessors, landlords, financial institutions, and official committees in chapter 11 and chapter 7 bankruptcy cases. Prior to returning to private practice in 2019, Laura served as the career law clerk to the Honorable Stacey G. C. Jernigan, Chief Judge of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas for nine years.
