2016 Education Advocacy Symposium

August 11-12, 2016

The Symposium took place over two days on the campus of the ÃÛÌÒ½´Dedman School of Law and was attended by 123 people from multiple disciplines in the child welfare field.

On Thursday, August 11, Regina Calcaterra, a child abuse survivor, provided the keynote address for the Symposium. Ms. Calcaterra, now a lawyer, authored a New York Times best-selling novel, Etched in Sand. The novel is a memoir of how she and her siblings lived through unthinkable abuse, homelessness, and poverty.

On Friday, August 12, the full-day Symposium was held, with continuing legal education accredited sessions on education advocacy topics, as well as an education panel from former foster youth. Listed below are materials, resources, and recordings from the Symposium.
