At the recent PEARC (Practice & Experience in Advanced Research Computing) conference in Providence, Rhode Island, O’Donnell Institute’s Rob Kalescky played a key role in the success of a high-impact panel discussion organized by the Coalition for Academic Scientific Computation (CASC). Panel on Digital Twins at the Workshop
The 2024 joint NASA/DOE-ORNL Trillion Pixel Challenge workshop focused on the intersection of artificial intelligence foundation models and geospatial digital twins. O’Donnell Institute Director Neena Imam participated in the Hardware and Software Architectures panel for GeoAI twins. The panel discussed how the GeoAI community can leverage existing hardware and software platforms for GeoAI applications today, with respect to data, computing and workflows. The motivations behind the current generation of digital twins for geospatial, climate and environmental applications were also discussed.
Birds-of-a-Feather Session on Continuum Computing: The Quantum Edge
SC, the International Conference for High Performance Computing, Networking, Storage and Analysis, is an annual conference established in 1988 by the Association for Computing Machinery and the IEEE computer Society. SC has built a diverse community of participants including researchers, scientists, application developers, computing center staff and management, computing industry staff, agency program managers, journalists, and congressional staffers. This diversity is one of the conference’s strengths, making it a yearly “must attend” forum for stakeholders throughout the technical computing community. For SC24 (November 17-22) the O’Donnell Institute is leading the BoF session on “Continuum Computing: The Quantum Edge”. More information on this event will become available soon.
