Emily Sharma
Emily Sharma is a lecturer in WRTR, where she enjoys teaching levels 1311, 1312, and 1313. As Coordinator of the program's English as a Second Language (ESL) track, she specializes in working with multilingual writers. She also serves as a Writing Center faculty member and consultant. Emily holds an M.A. in applied linguistics from Columbia University and an Ed.D. in higher education from SMU. Her research interests include applied linguistics, second language acquisition and pedagogy, and equitable funding in higher education.
Richard Treat
Having taught English to second-language learners in the United States as well as in Mexico, Morocco, and South Korea, Richard Treat enjoys working with people from different cultural backgrounds. He particularly enjoys teaching rhetoric and academic writing to the international students at SMU, using pop culture and media theory to analyze culture phenomena in the United States. He has an MA in linguistics with a graduate certificate in TESOL from the University of North Texas.
