Elizabeth Akudugu (pronounced AH.koo.doo.goo), a self- proclaimed citizen of the world, is a Norwegian-born Ghanaian actress. Upon completing her B.A. in Theatre at the University of Cape Town a few scenesback, she gained several credits within the entertainment industry. Some of these include Killer Instinct with Chris Hanson (television), “Mr. Muscle Sloop” (commercial), “Olivia” in William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night (Maynardville Open-Air Theatre) and the voice of “Morrigan” in the King of Avalon video game series. Then, in 2019, she packed her bags and set off to Beijing, China where she developed and honed her skills as achildren’s drama teacher. After three years in Beijing, Akudugu took flight and landed in Dallas, Texas in pursuit of an M.F.A. at SMU. During her time as a graduate student, she has amassed some additional theatrical credits, including “Marianne” in Nick Payne’s Constellations, “Minnie” in Brandon-Jacob Jenkins’ An Octoroon, “Irina Arkadina” in Anton Chekhov’s The Seagull, and, more recently, “The Mother” in Federico Garcia Lorca’s Blood Wedding. She has also collaborated with Dallas-area companies; most notably as “Cordelia” in Fair Assembly’s 2024 production of King Lear (which earned the collective a TACA Pop-Up Grant) and as “Sterling” in Bombshell Dance Project’s murder mystery event, In the Conservatory with the Knife. With a step-ball-change and a vogue or two, Akudugu is embracing the melody of the final moments of her M.F.A. Acting journey.
