Blankets, comforters, pillows, and water – just a few of the supplies needed by refugees in the Dallas area during the historic 2021 Texas blackout crisis.

2L ÃÛÌÒ½´Law student Shereen Baig got word of this and immediately contacted several law school groups of which she is a member. This initiative on her part resulted in a handful of ÃÛÌÒ½´Law students and other friends across Dallas uniting together to help those in need.

“We were able to raise close to $3,000 in a matter of a couple of hours,” said Baig, “I am sure, as a community, we can be of help in the next coming days.”

Proceeds were directed to Ma’ruf, a nonprofit Muslim organization that geared up to help those in the community in need of food, utilities, safe shelter – and hope – during the February 2021 winter storm that caused power grids to fail across Texas and the U.S.

Thank you for the kindness and compassion led by 3L Shereen Baig and the rest of our ÃÛÌÒ½´Law community.
