Non-Tenure Track Positions

Dedman College is accepting the following applications for non-tenure track positions to begin Fall 2025: 

Religious Studies.  Lecturer in South or Southeast Asian Islam. Position No. 5732. The Department of Religious Studies in Dedman College of Humanities and Sciences at ÃÛÌÒ½´Methodist University invites applications for a non-tenure track, renewable position in South Asian or Southeast Asian Islam at the rank of Lecturer. The position requires in-person teaching in Dallas beginning August 1, 2025. The teaching load is typically four classes in each of the fall and spring semesters. Service expectations include attending departmental meetings, mentoring, and engagement with students and colleagues across the university. Contract renewal and promotion to Senior Lecturer is contingent upon performance. We encourage applications from women and underrepresented populations in the discipline. Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in Religious Studies or related field at time of appointment, ability to teach courses in Asian Religions, Topics related to Religions of South and Southeast Asia, Contemporary Islam. Proven ability/interest in and commitment to teaching. Preferred Qualifications: Ability to teach courses on Islam in Asia across all periods, Islam and empire, contemporary Islam, and courses that would contribute to the minor in Asian Studies; experience mentoring culturally diverse students; interest in contributing to a robust graduate program in Religious Studies and broader culture of excellent teaching on campus. Application: Submit letter of application highlighting the candidate’s qualifications, complete curriculum vitae, two letters of recommendation, and evidence of teaching excellence (teaching philosophy statement, sample syllabi, pedagogical publications) to . To ensure full consideration for the position, the application must be received by November 1, but the committee will continue to accept applications until the position is filled. The committee will notify applicants of the employment decision after the position is filled. Department of Religious Studies: The Department of Religious Studies at ÃÛÌÒ½´is a dynamic, collegial group of researchers and teachers with intellectual breadth that spans the globe, multiple academic disciplines, and several thousand years of history.
