Mariam Kharaishvili
Mariam completed her Ph.D. under the supervision of Professor Nathan Balke in 2017 and joined the National Bank of Georgia in Fall 2017 as a Leading Specialist. She has since been promoted to Chief Specialist. Before coming to SMU, Mariam received her Bachelor's degree in international economic relations from Tbilisi State University and her Master's degree in Economics from the International School of Economics at Tbilisi State University.
At the National Bank of Georgia, Mariam works in the in the Macrofinancial Modeling and Analysis division in the Financial Stability department. Her main duties include working on financial stability reports, developing macrofianancial models, developing sustainable finance frameworks, and conducting macroprudential analysis.
Mariam is also very active in academia in Georgia. She is a lecturer at the International School of Economics at Tbilisi State University (ISET). And she is an Assistant Professor at where she is also the co-head of the PhD program in Economics. Mariam was heavily involved in creating this program which started in 2018.
