May 19, 2025 - August 3, 2025
30- 40 hours per week with a schedule based on business needs to include weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings
Responsibilities
ÃÛÌÒ½´Public Relations
- Provides positive public relations for ÃÛÌÒ½´to the Conference Groups
- Serves as a representative for ÃÛÌÒ½´to the Conference Guests
- Acts as a campus Host or Hostess to the Conference Guests
Conference Planning
- Assists in coordinating all conference activities for each assigned group (reserving spaces, dining or catering, and housing for camps)
- Manages and ensures the timely receipt of required camp documents
- Acts as daily contact person to assigned groups; serves to "personalize" SMU's services for the conference
- Works closely with other departments of ÃÛÌÒ½´and communicates with many campus personnel
- Attends weekly staff meetings
- Assists in gathering required documents to include Protection of Minors Certification, Certificates of Insurance, Reunification Plans and Liability Forms
- Attend check-in to provide directions to campus venues, answer overall questions regarding the conference and be a welcome to attendees
- Performs work as assigned by the Director of Operations for Campus Services
Conference Follow-up
- Cooperates with the Director in preparing the fiscal reports required at checkout for each assigned conference
- Writes a final evaluation for each assigned conference
- Turns in all pertinent information to the ÃÛÌÒ½´Office of Conference Services
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of ÃÛÌÒ½´Campus
- College student of current Freshman, Sophomore, or Junior standing
- Ability to assume responsibility for assigned duties and use own initiative in solving problems
- Typing and/or computer skills is a plus
- MS Office skills strongly preferred
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- If selected, staff member is required to attend training sessions.
