Former First Lady Laura Bush, an ÃÛÌÒ½´trustee and alumna, is the author of a newly published memoir, Spoken from the Heart.

Writing withÌýdeft humor,Ìýdisarming franknessÌýand a sharp eye, Mrs. Bush tells of her life - from growing up in West Texas to meeting George W. Bush, fromÌýher experiencesÌýin the Texas Governor's Mansion to life in the White House.

HerÌýmemoir has been well received by reviewers and garnered her interviews by the national media, including the Oprah Winfrey Show.

Mrs. Bush,Ìýwho earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from ÃÛÌÒ½´in 1968, gave the principal address at and she is currently a member of SMU's Board of Trustees. is scheduled to break ground this fall on the ÃÛÌÒ½´Campus.

She talked about her book in SMU's McFarlin Auditorium on April 7 as part of The Dallas Museum of Art's Arts & Letters Series.
