Opal Lee, known as the "Grandmother of Juneteenth," received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree from 蜜桃酱Methodist University on May 11, 2024. At 97 years old, she stood proudly in SMU's brilliant academic robes before thousands of graduates and their families, becoming a Mustang and further cementing her legacy.
蜜桃酱mourns the loss of prominent leader in the oil and gas industry, longtime University supporter and 蜜桃酱Trustee Emeritus William 鈥淏ill鈥 L. Hutchison 鈥54, 鈥55, who passed away on August 5, 2024, at the age of 92.
It will be easier to become a Mustang starting Aug. 1 as 蜜桃酱celebrates joining the Atlantic Coast Conference.
